Hi! My name is Vivian and I'm a 30-something-year-old mental health therapist living in Texas! For the most part, I am pretty open about my life. However, in the past year or two I have been actively rebelling against social media and how the web has turned into a revolving door of quick dopamine hits. This blog is my attempt to focus on slower living and longer form content.
I have raging Eldest Daughter Syndrome, so you'll get to watch me process in real time the high expectations I place upon myself 🥲 and also publicly document my efforts to recover from the resultant constant chronic stress. I'll share snippets of my life, rant about things that irk me, document some public crash-outs, and share pictures of my cat. Because of course an eldest millennial daughter would be a cat mom.
I have three awesome siblings who all work in some form of software engineering. You would think perhaps I didn't get the memo about being a software engineering family, but the truth is I went to one of the best universities in the world for computer science. I dropped out of the EECS program in the second semester of my sophomore year and ended up majoring in economics and management instead. After working on Wall Street for about a year doing mergers & acquisitions, I quit and took a grand tour of every career known to man, eventually settling on being a mental health therapist by chance (I applied to a bunch of masters programs in many different fields, and this was the one that accepted me first).
In my spare time, I dance like it's my full time job (on the weekends, it is) and lavish love and attention on my cat Allie.
Ultimately, I love telling stories about my life. I envision this space being a place where I document all the fun anecdotes and experiences I have had, in hopes that they give you a chuckle, bring a tear to your eye, or inspire you to reach for your dreams 🥰
